Esther Wahome : Success Story

Perhaps most of you knew Esther since she released the Song "Furahia" which became an instant hit across the country of Kenya. But the truth is that Esther had been around since 1992 and had two or three other album's but she was not known.Since she released the song "Furahia", both local and international doors opened for her like never before as she says in this interview done a while ago:
"The highest point of my career was when i received news that "Furahia" had been compiled alongside the most popular international  musicians. This door introduced me to millions of people across the world and created a platform for my career"

This was not enough.Little did Esther know that God has greater plans for her and had much more in store. Her hit album which was one of the few albums ever to go Platinum in Kenya "Kuna Dawa" was released. Some of the songs were shot in Europe.Since then, doors opened for Esther to perform in USA,Canada,Europe,Africa and even Israel. The song Kuna Dawa soon became an anthem in radio stations and the most unimaginable place for a gospel song to play "IN THE BAR" This just points to the power of God.She is indeed a blessed lady and a role model for may musicians and a very good business lady. Her latest album "Daktari" is breathe taking and has become an instant hit.I will be posting more information about her.

Kenyan Gospel Music and Dance Groups

The largest Gospel group In Kenya to really bust out into the music scene and succeed was Maximum Melodies which is made up of about 13 members (A bunch of them left and moved on). They hit the market with their debut album entitled "Mwamba" meaning that God is my rock {not Crocodile as some have confused}.
This album was a great success and even won the 2005 Kora Awards for the best spiritual group, beating Makoma.
Soon afterward's so many Churches started to have Dance group's which is a very good thing. One thing people should understand is that Creativity is very key to the success of every art work. The reason Maximum Melodies were able to succeed is that they did not try to imitate anybody but they came up with their own unique style of music and the industry really appreciated.
We'll but i have a small problem (and please understand that i am not in any way hating but i am just trying to air my opinion) so many groups that are imitating Maximum Melodies have come up and not only are they imitating the style of music but they are imitating their dressing and overall group brand.
I think that Creativity is very key in any ministry.Just because you admire your role model does not necessarily mean that you have to imitate everything about them. Some of this groups have even copied the names of their mentors and even splashed their own word at the end.My advice to these groups is to please try and be creative.I am not denying that you are talented but USE WHAT GOD GAVE YOU BECAUSE GODS GIFTS AND CALLINGS ARE UNIQUE.None of them has succeed like maximum melodies as they are unique in their own way.
The industry is not looking for another Maximum Melodies,Gospel Fathers or JOG-C but new talent. Please give us something new.Im saying this in love and please mark > THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION !!!!!
Well nevertheless i thank God that they are serving God and helping to spread his mission and purpose in all the earth. LOVE YA'LL

Mercy Wairegi

Mercy Wairegi bust into the Kenyan Music scene back in 2007 with her song "kama sio wewe" which she did in collaboration with Billy Frank and since then the sky has been the limit for her. Then came "Wanipenda","ila wewe" and many others. The girl has a beautiful voice and she can hit high notes with her charming key tones.I do not know a lot about her but what i currently understand is that she is a Worship intern at Nairobi Chapel and she graduated from Jommo Kenyatta University in 2005.
I will appreciate if someone posts more info about her coz her music is great !!! ENJOY.

Makoma : Lobiko Song

This is Makoma's new single known as "Lobiko". Well at least it is new in the sense that it has just been released into the market but i think that it was recorded about two year's ago because you can still hear Nathalie Makoma's voice but she is no longer in the group.

What happened to the Gospel group MAKOMA

Ever wonder what happened to the gospel group makoma. For those who do not know Makoma,it is made up of a family of six brothers and sisters and an in-law. This group was a big hit in Africa since the release of their first Gospel debut album "Jesus for Life" which had famous hits such as "Napesi" and "Butu na Moyi" which to this day are still hits. They then released two more albums "King of Kings" and "No Jesus no life" which are still big hits up to today.
They have one more Album which is not yet out in the market but has two singles "Nzambe Alingi Yo and Lobiko which are out and doing quite well but the question is "What happened to this Group?"
It is no secret that Nathalie, the former lead vocalist is no longer in the group and has her own secular career (a move ive never really come to understand) and the rest have not been together for a while.
There have been so many rumors such as the group disbanding even before Nathalie joined Idols but to say the truth i cannot confirm any of the rumors.
The group is very secretive about their whereabouts,i noticed, and they never really revealed much about themselves or what is going on currently but one thing Tutala Makoma, their eldest confirmed is that the group is still together but it will take a while before a new album is released in the market and they start having numerous public appearances together again. When asked why, he did not disclose the reason,we'll we should just respect their privacy.I will be posting more about this group very soon and their new single "LOBIKO"

MaryMary: Is God in Me the gospel ?

Since the release of MaryMary's smashing hit "God in me", a lot of critics have raised their eyebrows over the content of the Lyrics. I choose to look at it this way, "you can choose whether to get or not to get offended depending on how you will understand the lyrics. I do not think that the song is specifically targeted for any audience but it is Marymary's personal testimony of what God has done for them. Through this song, they acknowledge that God is the one who has made them prosper and shine the way they have, and what people see overflowing from their lives is not by their own strength, but through Christ who lives and shines through them.
THEREFORE THIS SONG IS THERE PERSONAL TESTIMONY NOT NECESSARILY A SHOW OFF THE WAY MANY HAVE PERCEIVED IT TO BE
